A 32-year-old former Clinton Township woman who led Macomb’s deputies in a chase and crashed into two police cars has been admitted to drug court.
Jamie Storying in June made an indisputable plea of ââtwo counts of third-degree flight for walking away from police in Harrison Township and crashing into two patrol vehicles a year ago on Interstate 94.
She was approved by Judge Joseph Toia for Macomb County Circuit Court Adult Drug Court instead of a 5-year jail sentence, but will serve three years of probation and will have to follow the court schedule. of the drug, which usually lasts about two years.
As part of the program, she will participate in outpatient consultations, undergo random drug testing, and meet regularly with the judge and the drug court team.
The plea is part of a deal to dismiss two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and add one count of third degree flight, punishable by up to five years in prison.
The incident began at around 2:20 a.m. on October 1 when MPs saw a red Chevrolet pickup truck turn on a red light on Crocker Boulevard and Harper Avenue. During a traffic stop, Stering accelerated and entered Interstate 94 eastbound. The van exited at 23 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township, then re-entered I-94 towards Port Huron.
MPs placed stop sticks on the highway, causing one of the truck’s tires to deflate. Dash camera video showed sparks coming from the truck as the tire rolled over its rim.
As MPs tried to get into the truck with their vehicles, the storage crashed into two sheriff’s vehicles, forcing a patrol car to skid off I-94. The truck then crashed into another assistant’s vehicle and stuck on its bumper for a while. The truck came to a stop on eastbound I-94 near Meldrum, Casco Township, and the couple were arrested.
An assistant was treated for injuries.
A syringe containing heroin was found in Storage’s possession, lawyers said at the hearing.
Stocking’s boyfriend Jacob Cuellar, 29, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of illegal possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle , a misdemeanor, according to district court records 41B. . He was sentenced last November to 18 months probation, which he was charged with violating and faces an Oct. 15 hearing for possible release from probation.
The couple resided in New Mexico but were in the area visiting Storing’s family, police said.
In 2015, Storing pleaded guilty in Macomb Circuit Court to two counts of possession of less than 25 grams of a controlled substance for the 2014 incidents in Roseville and Eastpointe and was sentenced to two years probation. , which she raped and was ordered to serve a total of 60 days in prison, according to court records.
