The Scheckel Boys at the Crawford County Fair | The sons of yesteryear

Phillip, Lawrence and Bob were looking forward to the Crawford County Fair at Gays Mills. The fair was held at the end of August or the beginning of September. The Scheckel family attended the fair on Sunday afternoon.

The most memorable fairs took place when we reached the age of about twelve. Dad gave 75 cents to each of us boys and said, “Be back at the car at 3 o’clock.” Dad made sure we knew where the car was parked. It was a valuable lesson that I have never forgotten. When you are in a large parking lot, note any markings, posts, signs, or directions that will help find your car.
