Ober Gatlinburg opens its ski and snowboard slopes

GATLINBURG, Tenn. – Ober Gatlinburg will open its tracks at 11 am on Saturday January 8 after the “temperature reversal” delayed the start of its season.

Ober Gatlinburg, in partnership with # F1rstChair Project, will reward the first 50 skiers / snowboarders in line on opening day with a free personalized BlackStrap Single Layer Tube face cover.

The latest addition to the ski area, the Magic Carpet treadmill, will help those who want to learn to ski or snowboard. New automated snowmaking technology also allows teams to remotely adjust the water and air pressure on several snow cannons in order to optimize snowmaking performance.

Ober Gatlinburg asks all guests to “know before you go”. Guests of the state’s only ski slope will be required to wear face coverings on the Ariel Streetcar, as well as maintain social distancing with others.

The Snow Tubing Park, Snow Playground, Ice Skating, Ice Bumper Cars, Ober Shops, The Seasons at Ober Restaurant and The Loft Lounge will be open and available to guests.
