International Senior Club welcomes Mayor of Weirton as guest speaker | News, Sports, Jobs


WEIRTON — The International Senior Club met April 12 at Undo’s in Weirton.

Vice President Tony La Rosa read the invocation highlighting the Easter season. Regina Truax conducted the Pledge of Allegiance. All the members joined in the singing “God bless America.” Desserts prepared by club members were served after dinner.

President Regina Truax introduced the guests in attendance, including Harold and Chris Miller, Mary Thompson, Beverly Carson, Dean and Debbie Ligias, Liz Beecroft, Barbara Guglielmo and Rosa Pulice. Lester Stuckmeyer was welcomed as a new member.

Truax announced that the May meeting will be dedicated to all mothers.

The business meeting was canceled to instead hear guest speaker Harold Miller, Mayor of Weirton, who spoke about Weirton’s growth and new businesses. He announced that land was open for new apartments and merchant stores being developed near the Wal-Mart area. He also mentioned that road improvements are underway.

Happy birthday and anniversary were sung to all April members. Recovery cards and condolence cards have been sent to members, it was noted.

Several bus routes have been announced, including Northfield, Ohio on May 13; Lady Luck Casino, Nemacolin, Farmington, Pennsylvania; June 19, Carousel,” Lincoln Park Performing Art Center, Midland, Pennsylvania; June 24, Sugarcreek (shopping, flea markets and wine tasting) Sucre; June 27-July 1, Nashville Show Trip, Nashville; July 4, Gateway Clipper Fleet, Pittsburgh; July 22, Hartville Market Place and Flea Market, Hartville, Ohio; and July 24, Memphis, Rock and Roll Musical, Lincoln Park Performing Art Center, Midland, Pennsylvania. The 50/50 was won by George Williams. The Undo gift certificates were won by Stephanie Iannetti and Beverly DiBiase. Door prizes were awarded to Barbara Giglielmo, Lester Ginier and Dino Rossi.
