The Baleno has repeatedly been the best-selling premium sedan in the Indian market. However, the competition is now much tougher with Tata Altroz ââalso competing and Hyundai has also launched the new i20. Thus, Maruti Suzuki began to work on the facelift of the Baleno. The spy shots of the motorcycle are already being leaked online and according to media reports Maruti Suzuki will launch the Baleno 2022 in February next year. Here’s everything we know about the new Baleno.
All new exterior
The exterior of the new generation Baleno is all new. The front now looks wider, but maybe that’s because of the sleeker headlights and wider grille. Both are brand new. It will still come with LED daytime running lights and spotlights that will also use LEDs.
The front bumper is also new and there is also a new fog light housing. The fog lights should also be LEDs. The trim surrounding the grille is now finished in matte black. The side profile has not yet been spotted.
But we have a photo of the back. We can see new, more stylish and modern LED tail lights. The rear bumper has been redesigned and receives two reflectors. There is a raised brake light, shark fin antenna, and a rear wiper with washer.
There will also be new alloy rims. Overall, the 2022 Baleno looks sharper and meaner. It no longer has curves and fluid design language. The design is refreshing, which was important to compete with the rivals.
The interior will also be brand new. there will be a new dashboard design, a new floating touchscreen infotainment system that will be larger and come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a new automatic climate unit, new analog dials, a multi-screen information slightly redesigned and the steering wheel will be a multifunctional unit. The upholstery should also be redesigned and Baleno will now also be equipped with cruise control. Maruti may also include light sensing headlights and rain sensing wipers. The infotainment system can also be delivered with connected car technology and an integrated SIM card.
Overall, the cabin will look fresh compared to the current Baleno. That said, Maruti Suzuki will still be carrying a lot of components and there will be a lot of parts sharing. The new steering wheel has been removed from the Swift, the multi-information display will be the same but will come with new graphics and the rest of the buttons and gear will be the same.
There will be no change to the Baleno engine. It will continue to be offered with a 1.2-liter petrol engine. The DualJet engine produces 90 PS of maximum power and 113 Nm of maximum torque and the VVT ââengine produces 83 PS of maximum power and 113 Nm of maximum torque.
The DualJet version features mild hybrid technology and is only offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The VVT ââengine is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox or CVT automatic transmission.
